2023 Recap
The 2023 Shorewood 12 was one for the record books. 34 Amazing teams (that's 136 riders!!) rode through the 6 mile course for 12 hours spreading good vibes in our community all along the way.
First, congratulations to team Chelsea FC for taking home the 2023 championship title with 2080 points! And congrats to Shorewood Futbal Cycling Club for winning the coveted Lap Rat trophy with 16 laps!
But the real winners?
But the charity doesn't stop there. The SW12 riders donated over 400 pounds of food to Kinship MKE. We purchase over 225 beers, cocktails and flights at Draft and Vessel, 3 Lions, Camp, Hubbard Park and Gathering place. Not to mention polishing off a few kegs out of the Draft and Vessel Beer Van! These riders know how to stay hydrated! We consumed 150 corn cobs and 75 pounds of FREE CHICKEN with our friends and neighbors. Cloud Red served up 33 delicious System Seltzers. Stone Creek sold 30 bags of SW12 beans and 18 SW12 Cold Brews. 7 Riders look sharper with their trim from Manhattan's. 67 Riders educated themselves on the importance of keeping our rivers clean with MKE Riverkeeper. Merchandise? Our riders purchase $3385 worth of merch from Lake Effect Surf Shop, BlackBear Children's Boutique, Olson House and Cosmic Destroyers. Look closely and you may see one of 69 Shorewood 12 long sleeve shirts around town. One of them is covering up a really sweet new SW12 tattoo from Positronic. Some of our classy riders purchased $420 worth of vino from Scout Wine Bar. We purchased $1210 in raffle tickets from kids on the Shorewood Mountain Biking Team. Public displays of art in Shorewood were visited 321 times throughout the day. Almost every rider enjoyed lunch at Ninos, Milwaukee Brat House, Rileys, Pizza and Curry, Benji's and/or Crave. 8 Brave attendees ran the Van der Loop and 33 took a free ride on the Ghost Train.
Big thanks to The Shorewood Foundation for expanding this year's festivities to a wider audience. Thanks to Hubbard Park Lodge and Shorewood Press. Big thank you to Lake Effect Surf Shop for elevating our t-shirt sales, Draft and Vessel, The Band of Ringers, Milwaukee Pedal Tavern, The Backpedalers Band, The Stalley Cats and Miguel the Rhythm Rabbit. Finally, a fine thanks to Stone Creek for our new signature roast with a custom SW12 label.
Thank you to all teams and all riders for making TheShorewood 12 a special event for all the small businesses, friends, family and neighbors of Shorewood.
We'll see you again next year!

The Gentlemen of Shorewood was founded on simple principles... Chicken should be free, delicious and not tear up your lawn. For the Shorewood 12 of 2022, we gave away 20 lbs of free, delicious chicken. Through some very random and unexpected circumstances, minor lawn damage was incurred in Shorewood and over at our neighbors in Whitefish Bay. Sorry 'bout that. Two out of three ain't bad.
