Checkpoint #10
Tee Box 4: Dummy
3961 N. Stowell Ave.

400 Yards. Dummy.

Put the irons down and reach for the woods!

In 1910, Albert Fowler of St. Louis, Missouri filed a patent for a wood golf club. His patent design claimed to improve the range for long distance clubs - drivers, spoons, and cleeks - through an oval shaft design. This is Albert Fowler’s only known patent.

In 1895, woods certainly existed, but no one had patented them yet.  Smart move Mr. Fowler - you're no Dummy!

Wait... I'm still confused as to why they call this hole "Dummy"...?

Maybe we'll find out by the time we reach the green at 2408 E. Newton Ave.
