Checkpoint #2
The Club House
3725 N. Lake Drive
Before we tee off, let’s first check in at the club house. It is well documented on period maps, 1800's news articles and score cards, that the original club house was located just across the street from Beverly Blvd on the east side of Lake Drive (then known as White Fish Bay Drive).
In the article below, published in the Chicago Tribune, 1899, we can see the clubhouse location, across the street and a bit north.

Other historians have pinpointed it just a bit to the south of Beverly on the far side of Lake Dr.
The journey from Chicago to the Milwaukee Country Club must have been a memorable one since visitors took the time to send postcards to loved ones to mark the occasion.
The windmill you see in the postcard pumped water for the facility from Lake Michigan and the clubhouse was named The Sentinel.
Ok... tee time approaches. Finish your Blatz and let’s check out the course!
