It’s the “Home” stretch and we’re pulling at the heart strings now aren’t we? The last hole was named HOME... here in the Shorewood that we now call home? Here come the waterworks again.
Truely, it doesn’t need to be the last hole. An article in The Janesville Gazette from 1901 mentions that Hamilton Vose and Louis Allis went head to head for 3 rounds of the course. Louis won in 123 strokes.

And he won the Fuller Cup? Must have looked nice in the trophy case next to some of his other awards...
But according to an article in 1903 for the Milwaukee Sentinel, Hamilton came back and won the Sentinel Cup at the Milwaukee Country Club a few years later.
And how about a big shout out to L.T. Boyd, holding the Allis Cup!
It seems that our earlier friend, Louis had a cup named after him!
No word yet on where these trophies exist today... but in 2023, A cut crystal and silver vase, dated August 23-24-25, 1900, showed up at auction for the handsome price of $1000. And that was the 2nd place trophy!! These folks at the Milwaukee Country Club know how to put on a good show!
