OK, now we're on the same page.
OK, now we're on the same page.

2024 Recap
Another amazing year in the books. First and foremost we’d like to thank... YOU! Together, Shorewood 12 riders raised a total of $6,490 for three local charities; The Derek Chappell Scholarship Fund at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, Kinship MKE and Shorewood Seed Foundation. YOU are amazing!
But the fun didn’t stop there. We saw 212 riders in this years event. We purchased 98 Pre Race Hydration cocktails at the starting line, Hubbard Park Beer Garden and 1264 race day beverages were consumed. SW12 riders know how to stay hydrated!
Nearly every team spotted a Penny Farthing in town, road a weird bike in the bike corral, purchased a swanky new SW12 t-shirt, and a bowling ball made 11 laps around the course this year. Oh, and there are 10 new SW12 tattoos hitting the streets! A new record!
Apparently, SW12 riders get hungry, too. We enjoyed 150 pounds of free chicken (as it should be), 100+ ears of corn and teams hit almost every restaurant/cafe in Shorewood for good, local grub.
Let’s do some shout outs, shall we? This year’s race winners were “BEVERLY NEWTON JOHN!” Welcome to the winner’s circle! And our hearts go out to team “VINCE MADE US DO IT” for coming in last. Like, way, WAY LAST. Better luck next year VMUDI... Joe Ryan was our winner for the Tortoise and the Hare Race. Our Lap Rat (most laps) was a statistical tie between Recycling Souls and Wheels of Misfortune. Congratulations to you both!
As you might imagine, it takes a village to support an event like this. It’s not just the Gentlemen of Shorewood, its people like the hard working serving staff and Russ at Hubbard Park Lodge. Jake at the totally awesome Lake Effect Surf Shop. The amazing and generous Nat with the Beer Van from Draft and Vessel serving up cold brew from Black Huskey, Amorphic and Gathering Place in Riverwest. Big thanks to Andrew Ashenbrener for this year’s t-shirt design. Eric Zentner from ezimprovements.com for the weird bikes. Ryan Vanderloop. The Staley Cats. Our Hare, professional triathlete and winner of the Wisconsin Iron Man, Thomas Gerlach. Tim at Shoorewood Bike Repair. Sam and the team at Shorewood Press. Scardina Meats and the Scardina family! Thank you to Jamie Reeve, Justin and the Shorewood Rec. Dept. for the dunk tank. Carman and Melissa from SEED. Jennifer Breceda from Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Stone Creek Coffee, Performance Running, Cosmic Destroyer and Orange Theory.
See you all again in 2025!

The Gentlemen of Shorewood was founded on simple principles... Chicken should be free, delicious and not tear up your lawn. For the Shorewood 12 of 2022, we gave away 20 lbs of free, delicious chicken. Through some very random and unexpected circumstances, minor lawn damage was incurred in Shorewood and over at our neighbors in Whitefish Bay. Sorry 'bout that. Two out of three ain't bad.
Thank you to everyone who rode with the Gentlemen of Shorewood this year and always remember... When You're Schwinning - You're Winning!
